I know, I know. You're probably thinking "but your website is Active Annie, you mean you don't actually go by Annie". No. Not normally unless you're one of those special people who can say "I changed your diapers when you were just a baby"...aka my aunts and uncles. I chose Active Annie because well....this is my blog and I just kinda like the name Active Annie over Active Ann.
I am a proud Tennessean (go Vols and Titans!) . I live in a small town just north of Nashville and yes I am country which is very apparent if you ever talk to me on the phone or in person (my accent is pretty heavy).
I have a very large family who you will more than likely see on here from time to time. My parents are divorced and both remarried so you can only imagine what holidays are like for our family. I'd go into detail but I might go gray before I finish telling you the whole story. If any of my family is reading this...I love you all!
My husband's name is Troy and we've been married since 2006. He is truly my best friend even though he started out just being the big brother of a friend when I was in high school. Now that friend is my sister-in-law which is awesome. Hi Kimmie!
We don't have any kids but we do have 3 fur-babies.
Aren't they so cute!
So you want to know more about me.
- By day I'm and executive assistant. I like working and I like my job but I'm glad it's only 40 hour weeks. I think it is stupid that the average work week in the US is moving closer to 50 hours per week. My personal motto towards work is "Work to live the way you want to live, don't live to work".
- Troy says I'm a starter and not a finisher. He kinda has a point. I do tend get all excited about things in the beginning and somewhere along the way I lose interest. This is my first blog so keep your fingers crossed that I keep up with it. lol.
- I would love to have children one day but I doubt that is going to happen. We are starting to make plans for our life just the two of us and I have to say that I am liking our plans alot.
- I think that infertility should be considered an illness or disease and should be covered by all insurance plans. It does affect your mental and physical well-being. I don't even go to baby showers any more because they just depress me and I've found that just buying a gift and sending it along with someone else is so much easier.
- I may not have children of my own but I'm glad that I at least have kids in my life to enjoy. I get to be the cool big sis to my sister and brother that are 22 years my junior and the awesome Aunt Ann that gets to spoil her nieces and nephews rotten.
- One regret that I have is that I didn't finish college. I went to college to pursue degrees that others thought I should get and just didn't stick with it. I'm just not a nurse or an accountant. I should have listened to dad when he said "Get it on paper". I'd love to go back to school and major in what I want to do, graphic design. Who knows...maybe I will someday.
- I sleepwalk and talk in my sleep. Maybe not every night but I do quite frequently.I think Troy thinks its fun to watch me when I'm doing this.
- During my weight-loss journey I've learned that I love running. I may not be the best at it yet but I love just plugging in my earbuds and hitting the road. Which reminds me, I need some new tunes for the mp3 player.
- I very lucky that I have the bestest friends in the world. The ones that even though you may be in a different point in your life or just haven't talked to in a while will always be there for you no matter what. You girls know who you are.
- I am a B-I-N-G-O player.
- I'm a coupon shopper for life. My mom, aunts and grandmother all coupon shop so I can remember this being done my entire life. My mom once said "We were doing it before it was cool". I personally think that the show Extreme Couponing ruined coupon shopping for everyone else. The stuff they show is not even realistic.
- Troy and I have worked in a haunted house going on 5 years now. I'm one of the people over the makeup and costumes and I love it. Getting paid to scare people is fun too. hehe
I know I didn't cover any of my weight-loss here but I wanted somewhere to talk about me and not my weight. Go visit my Weight-loss Journey page to read about how I'm becoming healthier and more active.
